#100 – 100th Episode Spectravaganza!

We celebrate our 100th episode by responding to your listener mail! The discussion is vigorous and wide-ranging, covering our favorite bits of Trek (as well as our least favorite), which episodes are most thought provoking, things Trek could have done better, what other fandoms each of us partakes in, and much, much more. Thanks to everyone who sent in their questions and comments, and here’s looking to another 100 episodes (at least)!

Next week: We get our first look at the all new Star Trek: Prodigy with its first episode, “Lost and Found”!

Note that this and all episodes of the It’s Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids.

#69 – ‘Timeless’ Voyager S5E06

Harry Kim gets in a fight with Geordi LaForge. Join your frozen-solid hosts as they discuss time travel without time travel, the moral conundrums associated with actions motivated by guilt, and what exactly Ensign Kim would have to do to get promoted by Captain Janeway.

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

Next week: We get hippy-happy as we discuss Star Trek: The Original Series’ “The Way to Eden”!

#31 – ‘Blink of an Eye’ Voyager S6E12

Janeway and the gang goof up a planet, but everything works out in the end. Join your time-zone-agnostic hosts as they discuss the often tricky-to-navigate chasm between the ideal of the Prime Directive and the practical realities faced by Starfleet crews, the problem of fiction relying on disproven tropes about cultural evolution, and the fact that The Doctor seemed more agitated by sports rosters than being ripped away from his wife and child. All of the proceeding, and much more to boot, is poured straight into your earholes on this, the 31st episode of It’s Got Star Trek!

Next week: We don our hot-weather gear to traverse the ‘Desert Crossing’ – episode 24 of Star Trek: Enterprise’s first season.

#22 – ‘Year of Hell (Parts 1 & 2)’ Voyager S4E08 & 09

Have you ever been in a situation where you wish the year you were enduring would simply reset and allow you to start over while avoiding all the horribleness? Well then this episode is for you! Join your reality-fatigued hosts as they discuss Voyager’s fourth season two-parter, ‘Year of Hell.’ Is it genocide if the people never existed? Is manipulating the timeline any different than contemporary mechanisms of influence, such as war-making or the aggressive application of political and economic power? We unfortunately failed to discuss the most important question of all: is Annorax partial to anoraks? Regardless, we cover a lot of ground in this one!

Next week: We investigate Odo’s past (and enjoy another appearance by the great Kurtwood Smith) in Deep Space Nine’s fifth season episode, ‘Things Past’ – prepare to trek back in time to Terok Nor!

#4 – ‘Caretaker’ Voyager Pilot

You are invited to enjoy the newest episode of It’s Got Star Trek, in which your beleaguered hosts wrestle with the fact that they like, but don’t love, ‘Caretaker,’ the pilot episode of Star Trek: Voyager.  We discuss Tom Paris’ presumptions, Captain Janeway’s shady (and short-lived) senior staff, and confusing interpretations of the Prime Directive.  Also, Neelix.  Subscribe today at your nearest certified Podcast® dealer!

Podjam Trektacular

Just a few more days until the It’s Got Star Trek podcast officially launches! To get things started, your hosts will be doing a series of episodes focused on the Star Trek pilot episodes, starting with a double-bill of “The Cage” and “Where No Man Has Gone Before” from TOS. That will be followed the next week by The Next Generation’s “Encounter at Farpoint” then the week after that we’ll have Deep Space Nine’s “Emissary” and – wouldn’t you know it! – the week after that we’ll totally be tubing down Voyager’s “Caretaker” river and spilling out into Enterprise’s “Broken Bow.” But what will come next, you might be wondering? How will you handle the pattern-breaking launch of Discovery? Well, by covering “The Vulcan Hello” and “Battle at the Binary Stars” in one episode, followed by “Context is for Kings” in a follow-up installment. Now you might be wondering, are these fools actually going to keep this up? Well, I can assure you that these fools will – and my assurance is ironclad as we’ve already recorded all this noise. Anyway, don’t get upset, just relax and enjoy this preview podjam on a loop until Thursday, December 5 (maybe at midnight? who knows?!).
