#302 – ‘Through the Lens of Time’ SNW S3E05

A few folks learn the value of teamwork while a few others are brutally maimed and killed. Join your trans-dimensional hosts as they discuss Event Horizon, Ghostbusters, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Also, we have a new review and therefore Dan has crafted a new haiku! Note that we keep hearing that podcast audiences love it when hosts don’t get to the main topic for at least 20 minutes so we try that out this episode – it seemed excessive to us, but who are we to argue with the podcasting cognoscenti?

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

Next week: We continue our weekly coverage of Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds with “The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail”

Note that this and all episodes of the It’s Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids.

#301 – ‘A Space Adventure Hour’ SNW S3E04

Carmen Sandiego is on the case in this harrowing holotale! Join your period-appropriate hosts as they discuss the nuances between homage and fan service, debate the ins and outs of the central mystery undergirding the plot, and delight in the silly performances littered throughout this charming, if occasionally confusing episode. Also, we introduce a brand new theme song, and Jesse sneezes for a bit at one point – all this and so much more on this week’s delicious episode of It’s Got Star Trek!

#300 – The It’s Got Star Trek Technical Manual

Surprise! You all get an extra episode this week since we wanted to celebrate our 300th (!!) episode in style. That style happens to have taken the form of a “technical manual” for the It’s Got Star Trek podcast, in which we go over regular features, the show’s intended audience, episode structure, and all sorts of other things that might be relevant to new or returning listeners. Or at least that was the intention, we may have gotten slightly off track – you be the judge! Oh, and we also learn a bit more about all three of your stalwart hosts, like what Dan absolutely refuses to allow on his burgers. It’s a fun celebration of 300 episodes of utter goofiness – enjoy!

Next episode: We continue our weekly coverage of Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds with “A Space Adventure Hour”, launching at our usual time of midnight Monday, Eastern Time.

Note that this and all episodes of the It’s Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids.

#299 – ‘Shuttle to Kenfori’ SNW S3E03

Pike and M’Benga avoid trying to say the “Z” word. Join your moss-loving hosts as they discuss genre-hoppping plots, hats on hats on hats, and continued additions to the rapidly expanding (if still frustratingly one-dimensional) corpus of Gornlore. Also, there are lists and doody or no doodies and silly voices and listener mail and, perhaps, a digression or two. Importantly, we foolishly and mistakenly refer to this episode at #298 during our intro – nothing could be further from the truth! It is indeed, despite our verbal error, episode #299. Enjoy!

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

#298 – ‘Wedding Bell Blues’ SNW S3E02

Spock teams up with his romantic rival to set things right. Join your engaged hosts as they discuss the value of silly plots for examining not-so-silly emotions, varying views on the incorporation of existing Star Trek lore into this episode, and continuing the franchise’s tradition of humiliating the Irish. This is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a fun one!

#297 – ‘Hegemony, Part II’ SNW S3E01

La’an battles gremliny Gorn while Spock battles gremliny feelings. Join your entertained but confused hosts as they discuss Part II-ishness (or Part II-itis?) in Star Trek, the welcome return of such wonderful characters and actors, and the cinematic and restrained direction of this season opener. Also, Dan returns from his shore leave with a basket full of kooky sound clips and belly full of mirth!
