Podcast: It's Got Star Trek

The It’s Got Star Trek podcast offers a weekly, irreverent, and in-depth dive into all the various corners of the Star Trek franchise. Revel in ribald discussion of episodes and movies plucked from across time and space, including The Original Series, The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, and Prodigy, as well as full coverage of Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, and Strange New Worlds!

#307 – “New Life and New Civilizations” SNW S3E10

Captain Pike sees the inner light in Captain Batel’s eyes. Join your frustrated hosts as they discuss the good, the bad, and the just plain confusing of this strangely constructed season finale. We manage to avoid knock-knock jokes, despite all the knocking – and while we knock this episode a bit, there is much we enjoyed! Learn more by clicking the button marked play.

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

Next week: We get back to our roots with a rollicking discussion of the Riker-focused “Future Imperfect”

Note that this and all episodes of the It’s Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids.

Kongo/Bongo & Micro/Macro: An It’s Got Star Trek Bonus Patreon Presentation

Patrick is traveling abroad on a secret mission of goodwill, so in lieu of our regular episode this week we are opening up our Patreon vault to provide excellent filler content! We welcome you to enjoy not one, but two “pre-episode banter” segments (i.e., the madness that goes on behind the scenes as we prep for that week’s podcast).

The first segment is called “Kongo/Bongo” and was recorded as we got ourselves hyped to discuss “Dos Cerritos” & “Shades of Green” in episode #262 of It’s Got Star Trek. If that wasn’t enough to whet your aural whistles, fret not! It is immediately followed by a segment called “Micro/Macro” – the initial source of Dan and Patrick’s long-running argument about macro-penises! That debate delayed the start of our discussion of “The Apple” in episode #252 of It’s Got Star Trek.

If you want to have a baller of a time, might we suggest you listen to episodes #262 and #252 of It’s Got Star Trek straight away after listening to this episode so you can enjoy thinking about what conversation happened before each of those highly professional and tightly-performed episodes? Might we? We did!

Next week: We we will conclude our coverage of Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds with “New Life and New Civilizations”

Note that this and all episodes of the It’s Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids.

#306 – “Terrarium” SNW S3E09

Enemy mine? No – enemy yours! Join your comforted hosts as they discuss all aspects of this long-awaited and much-desired Erica Ortegas-centric episode, including the continuing value of familiar plotlines (at least when they are well-produced), superfluous fanbait that threatens to distract from a solid tale, and the universal appeal of a monster with its nose sticking out of a blanket flopped on its head. We also discuss cloacae, briefly.

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

Next week: We take a brief break due to host travel, but the following week we will conclude our coverage of Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds with “New Life and New Civilizations”

#305 – “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans” SNW S3E08

A lost plot from The Animated Series time travels to the year 2025! Join your uncomfortably-bemused hosts as they discuss silly humor, goofy plots, and what it all means (or doesn’t mean) at the end of the day. We also briefly touch on the controversies surrounding this episode, particularly around biological determinism, but note that ours is not the best venue to discuss such an important topic. Finally, we also received an email from a very special person in Dan’s life – don’t miss it!

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

#304 – “What Is Starfleet?” SNW S3E07

It’s like The Office except somewhat less plausible. Join your varied-viewed hosts as they discuss what works, what doesn’t work, and what aggravates to the core in this somewhat trite application of a wearying old trope. Listen to find out which host had the most trouble with this episode, and which was perfectly fine with it! There’s other good stuff in here too that your humble description writer can’t recall, but it’s totally worth a listen. Totally!

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!

#303 – ‘The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail’ SNW S3E06

Lieutenant Commander Kirk learns a few life lessons while saving the day. Join your ravenous hosts as they discuss delicious character development, beautiful (if occasionally unjustified) visuals, and an unfortunate twist that luckily doesn’t completely mar an otherwise excellent episode of Star Trek. Also, Patrick made it a point to avoid taking too long to get to the discussion of the episode, so as you might expect we didn’t start talking about Sehlats or tails until the second break. Still, the first break is pretty damned amazing, so skip it at the peril of your unsatiated pleasure centers!

Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet – beware!
